I see you, you see me

I see you, you see me

An interactive installation by Voices of Tolerance.

In I see you, you see me, young people share their experiences of growing up in a world where social media and online platforms occupy a prominent place. How does this influence their identity?

In various workshops, young members of the Voices community engage in conversations with artists about their online lives. What are you doing there? How does online life relate to offline life? Where do you feel at home? What influence does social media have on who you are, become, and can be?

We see an endless meeting place where making contact is easier than in the real world. For finding like-minded people, you are no longer confined to your immediate surroundings or organizing gatherings. The world, multiple worlds, are at your fingertips. It is a place for discovery and experimentation.

Where older generations see downsides of too much, too long, too dangerous, too tempting – this generation, which knows no different, sees mostly the possibilities.

The interactive installation I see you, you see me is part of the educational program Voices of Tolerance. Through this, the museum invites young people to reflect on the world they live in and the freedom they have to be themselves. The installation was realized in collaboration with artists.

I See You, You See Me will be on view at Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder from Sept. 16 through Nov. 16, 2023.
