The museum is constantly looking for ways to connect religious heritage with topical themes. Our new research programme has launched with a real sense of urgency. Together with the Free University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Religion and Theology we are spending the coming years developing an interactive web environment about religious groups in Amsterdam, then and now. Students, researchers, heritage professionals and volunteers are building a new religious map of the city: buildings, locations and objects linked to a network of people, religious ideas and emotions. Each building and each location is illustrated with three objects that tell the story of the place they exemplify. The result is a vibrant reflection of religious life in Amsterdam in all its diversity.
