Attic Masses 2025
Every first Sunday of the month, except July and August, a Catholic Mass celebration is held in the attic church. Everybody is welcome to attend. The doors of the museum open at 9.30am and the Solder Mass starts at 10am and ends at 11am. There is no need to book in advance, you are free to walk in when opening. Just keep in mind that it can be full. Any questions and/or comments about these Masses, please email solderviering@gmail.com.
The origins of these Masses
From the late 17th century until the opening of the new Saint Nicholas Church in 1887, Masses were held, married, baptised and mourned in Our Lord in the Attic. A year later, the Attic Church was rededicated as a museum. Since 1951, regular church services for artists have again been held in the chapel. Catholic artists such as glaziers, painters, sculptors, musicians and writers found their spiritual shelter here. Gradually, this target group was replaced by people who felt appealed by the historic building, professional music and preaching. Thus, except during the summer months, this museum lovingly cherishes its original purpose on every first Sunday of the month and at Christmas.
