From Monday 14 February
Festive unveiling
Sculpture by Israeli artist Eran Shakine
Our Lord in the Attic Museum placed a work of art from its own collection in the outdoor area today, Monday 14 February. The statue by the Israeli artist Eran Shakine is located on a specially landscaped green belt just in front of the quay opposite the museum entrance. The work of oxidized steel consists of three almost identical figures depicting a Muslim, a Christian and a Jew. It emphasizes the connection between people, regardless of their religious beliefs. The festive unveiling was performed by Yet ten Hoorn, community manager of the Green Light District , and Birgit Büchner, director of the museum. A real Amsterdam street organ provided the musical setting. In the context of Valentine’s Day, the local residents, local entrepreneurs and other interested parties were also celebrated at Eberhardjes.
It has been a long-cherished dream to make the Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder Museum, a location where Catholic Amsterdammers had to practice their faith in secret for centuries, with a work of art in the outdoor area. A true milestone for the second oldest museum in Amsterdam.
